MY MOTTO’S

As I was working on my Bucket List, a few of the items on the list, are my personal motto’s.

They are:

-Remember, the worse that anyone can say to you is no, so live without fear

-“You’d better know that in the end/It’s better to say too much/Then never say what you need to say again”

-I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength

-Remember, the worse that anyone can say to you is no, so live without fear

I was sitting in the waiting room of our doctor’s office last spring having a conversation with a family friend that we have known for a long time. They actually were the ones that sold our old house and helped us find the one we are in now (not that it really matters to the story at all). Anyhow, she was asking me where I was going to go to school and she told me about her son. Her son went to Ohio University for Film Studies and after one quarter, decided that it was a waste of his time and money. He was answering questions that the professor couldn’t answer.

So, he lived with the mantra that the worst thing anyone can say to you is no. He started at on a few local jobs and eventually made it to the top of the filmmaking world, working with Spielberg and other influential filmmakers.

That just floors me. When you think about the truth behind it, it’s full of it. All they can say is no. Sure, you might lose some money (application fee for a college, gas money, plane ticket, etc) or friends, but that’s all you can lose.

You’re still a human being. You’re still alive. You still have the support of your family (hopefully).

Why don’t I live like that more often?

Because I’m afraid.

I’m scared of what others might think of my decision.

I’m scared of how it could affect my future.

I’m afraid of the word no.

I don’t want to use it…

…and I definitely don’t want to hear it uttered to me.

I’m afraid of rejection.

But I’m working on it.

…I’m…

…getting…

…there…

-“You’d better know that in the end/It’s better to say too much/Then never say what you need to say again”

This is a quote from John Mayer’s song “Say” from the movie “The Bucket List” If you’re not familiar with the movie, it’s basically two men that want to accomplish everything before they die, but realize something very special about their lives. If you haven’t watched it, I highly recommend it.

This once again goes back to the entire section before. I guess one of my goals for this year (and hopefully the rest of my life) is to live without regrets.

I never want to leave a situation in anger.

I never want to not say I love you to loved ones.

I never want to wish I did this or did that.

I want to be able to look at my life and see that what I’ve done in my life has been good.

Will I sit and reflect about my life and the choices I’ve made?

Absolutely!

But will I live with a sense of regret about those choices?

Hopefully not!

What’s done is done.

-For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength

I guess I really didn’t realize how many of my quotes are inner-strength related.

This is another one that I love.

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength

For I CAN do everything through Christ, who gives me strength

For I can do EVERYTHING through Christ, who gives me strength

For I can do everything THROUGH CHRIST, who gives me strength

For I can do everything through Christ, who GIVES me strength

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives ME strength

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me STRENGTH

THROUGH CHRIST, I CAN DO ANYTHING!

Does that not rock your socks!!!

I can live without regrets.

I can live without fear.

All because of Christ Jesus!

What an amazing savior we have!!!

All because of the strength that He provides to me,

Zach
