Wedding Dress

Nope, I’m not getting married.

No, I’m not going to wear a wedding dress to anything formal.

Wedding Dress is a song by Derek Webb (another artist that I absolutely love).

It’s an artist that I originally heard on the Relevant Podcast and kinda threw to the side…

…until I was re-introduced to him by Rhett.

He gave me his cd’s: Mockingbird, I See Things Upside Down and She Must and Shall Go Free.

On She Must and Shall Go Free, there is a song that kicks me in the butt every single time I here it.

Listen to Derek explain why he wrote it…

I view the song in a different light.

I see it more as how we, as Christians, sin and then go running back to Jesus.

Watch the video and see what you think.

“‘Cause I am a whore I do confess/But I put you on just like a wedding dress/And I run down the aisle, I run down the aisle/I’m a prodigal with no way home/But I put you on just like a ring of gold/And I run down the aisle/I run down the aisle to you”

From Wedding Dress by Derek Webb

What do you think?

What does it mean to you?
